How much does a custom celebration cake cost in Indianapolis?
Our custom occasion cakes are priced per serving, so you only pay for the cake you need. Single-tier buttercream starts at $3.00 per serving, single-tier fondant at $3.50, tiered buttercream at $3.50, and tiered fondant at $4.00. Sculpted 3D cakes start at $125. Every order is quoted individually based on size and design, and your quote is good for 24 hours.
How many people does each cake size feed?
It depends on your guest count and how the cake is cut. As a general guide, a 6 inch round serves about 10 to 12, an 8 inch serves about 20 to 24, and a 10 inch serves about 30 to 38 (party-size slices run a little larger, so counts go down). Tell us your headcount when you reach out and we will recommend a size, or a tiered combination, so no one goes without a slice.
How far in advance should I order a custom cake?
For custom occasion cakes we recommend ordering 2 to 3 weeks ahead. The more detailed the design, the more lead time helps. If your date is sooner, contact us and we will tell you honestly what is possible. Can I send a Pinterest or inspiration photo for you to recreate?
Yes, please do. Reach out with your event date, guest count, theme, colors, and any Pinterest or reference photos, and our cake artists will design around your vision. We are happy to color-match invitations, team colors, or a theme. One customer told us we did an insane color match to her invitation suite.
Should I choose buttercream or fondant?
Most of our customers choose buttercream because it tastes amazing and is made fresh in house. Buttercream gives a soft, classic finish and is the more affordable option, starting at $3.00 per serving versus $3.50 for fondant. Fondant gives a smooth, sculpted, picture-perfect look that holds up well for intricate designs. We can often achieve a clean, polished look in buttercream alone, so tell us the look you want and we will recommend the right finish.
Why do custom cakes cost more than a grocery-store cake?
A custom cake is made from scratch and decorated by hand for your specific event. The price reflects real ingredients, our house-made buttercream, the hours of design and decorating, and the structural work on tiered or sculpted cakes. We offer delivery and setup throughout Central Indiana on qualifying orders, with the fee based on distance and the day and time. We will quote your exact fee when you order. We serve Indianapolis, Carmel, Fishers, Noblesville, Westfield, Zionsville, Greenwood, Avon, Brownsburg, Plainfield, Franklin, Greenfield, Anderson, Danville, and Martinsville. You can also pick up your cake at our S. Meridian Street shop.
Do you make gluten free or vegan cakes?
We offer gluten free options (Yellow, Confetti, and Chocolate) for cupcakes, cake pops, and basic cakes, though not for intricate designs because of the denser batter. We also offer a limited vegan menu. We cannot combine gluten free and vegan in one item. We work with 6 of the top 8 allergens but cannot guarantee against cross-contamination, so please let us know your needs.
How do I pay, and is a deposit required?
For custom occasion cakes, payment in full secures your order, since each cake is custom and reserves a spot on our calendar. Quotes are valid for 24 hours. To get started, request a quote and our team will follow up by email with any questions, a preliminary design summary, and pricing.
